"This is what you'll get, when you mess with Us"

So on this glorious (non Volcanically challenged in anyway) Sunny day,I thought to myself shame to waste it!
...as a result I decided to take a few snaps ;)

anyone fancy building themselves a boost?
I think "the A class" has a nice ring to it!

  1. looks simple enough, can we start building up a parts list?

    so, 2x 2n5089 transistors

    is the electrolytic a 10uF?

what do the greenies say on them?

  2. yeah, I can see it now..

    1x 10uf electrolytic
    2x 2n5089 transistors.

    um, is that 2x brown/black/orange/gold?

    those are 10k

    and the brown/black/green inbetween is a 1M

  3. yeah the electrolytic is 10uF

    greenie in the middle
is a "104" so thats .10 uF right?

and the greenie on the end is "503"so that a .05 uF?

still getting the hang of component values!

    it's wired with a volume & a contour(gain) pot

    volume is Alpha 100k

contour is a Linear 1k with 47uF cap attached between lug 1&2

if you look at the second pic you'll see a violet wire on the far left which goes to the 3rd lug of the vol pot,the black wire in the middle of the board goes to the first lug of the vol pot

thw white wire from the board goes to the 3rd lug of the contour pot

lug 1 of the volume is wired to lug 1 of the contour pot

  4. so...

    1x 10uf electrolytic
    2x 2n5089 transistors
    2x 10K resistors
    1x 1m resistor
    1x 100k resistor

    (the brown/black/yellow is 100k)

what are the other 2 resistors?? and the green caps??

    ...nearly there!! :)

  5. 104 is 100nF
    503 is 50nF

I only use 'uf' for electro's myself. :)

    1x 10uf electrolytic
    2x 2n5089 transistors
    2x 10K resistors
    1x 1m resistor
    1x 100k resistor
    1x 100nF capacitor
1x 50nF capacitor (seems an odd value?)

...just need the colour codes for those other two resistors chief.

  6. Hmmm it's definitely a 2A503J?
ok Gepgraphically speaking which two do we need?

    there's 3 10k's (one is up beside the 10uF)

  7. ok so the two between the trannie and the cap are

    orange orange black orange gold

    so thats 330k yeah?

the other one is blue grey brown gold

    so 680k?

  8. and hey I'm not here to Judge what you get up to "out of office hours" :P

    ReplyDelete
  9. blue grey brown is 680ohms (680R)

yup, orange orange black orange is 330k

    (according to this)

I'll go and finish the pic and email it to you. :)

  10. And it's bang on,looking online those transistors are really, really cheap too!

    ReplyDelete
  11. yeah, nothing expensive in there at all. .. this 47uf cap that's on the contour knob, electrolytic I presume? which lug does the negative leg go to?

    ReplyDelete
  12. ok, parts list:

    1x 47uf electrolytic
    1x 10uf electrolytic
    2x 2n5089 transistors
    3x 10K resistors
    2x 1m resistors
    1x 100k resistor
    2x 330k resistors
    1x 680R resistor
    1x 100nF capacitor
    1x 50nF capacitor

    1x 1k lin pot
    1x 100k log pot

    correct?

    ReplyDelete
  13. yup that all looks in order
the 47uf is electrolytic, the only thing I'm uncertain of is the direction of that cap
    I'll report back tomorrow!
